Marketing and Communication Manager
Science is Elementary (SiE) is a nonprofit on a mission to ensure that every young child—regardless of zip code—has access to high-quality, hands-on science education. We empower 60,000 children annually to see themselves as scientists, sparking the curiosity and confidence that lead to a lifelong love of learning.
Position Type
This job is a salaried full time position. The job is hybrid with 1-2 days a week in our office in Mountain View.
Position Summary
This is a high-ownership role created to fuel SiE’s next phase of growth. As the only marketing and communications staff member, you will report directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for both setting the marketing strategy and executing all daily tasks. We are a lean, collaborative team where everyone on our leadership team moves daily between high-level planning and hands-on execution. We are looking for a resourceful professional who is excited to build new systems while staying deeply involved in the day-to-day work.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
Develop and implement marketing strategies in partnership with the CEO and leadership team
Own brand management, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all channels
Plan and execute integrated campaigns to support program growth, partnerships, and community engagement
Track performance and use data to refine approach
Content & Digital Marketing
Create content across channels: email newsletters, website, social media, presentations, and marketing collateral
Manage and grow social media presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram ● Manage email campaigns and contact database in HubSpot
Maintain website content and optimize for search
Provide graphic design support using Canva or similar tools
Use AI and analytics tools to improve efficiency and inform strategy
External Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
Manage external communications, including media relations as opportunities arise
Support donor and board communications in coordination with the CEO
Develop strategies to increase community awareness and volunteer involvement
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in marketing or communications, with progressively growing responsibility
Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns
Excellent writing verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and message for different audiences
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
Comfort using AI and digital tools, and learning new ones
Hands-on experience with email marketing, contact management, and campaign analytics
Social media management experience with demonstrated success growing and engaging audiences
Functional graphic design skills (Canva or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit marketing or communications
Background in education or STEM-related organizations
Familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM/marketing automation platforms

Salary
$85,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience
