Cynthia Lan Martin

Cynthia is Assistant General Counsel, Patents at GSK where she protects the intellectual property of transformational medicines and vaccines. She is responsible for worldwide strategic IP counseling for drug product development teams from early pipeline through marketed products (with a focus on biologics). As a “science lawyer,” Cynthia is passionate about the importance of diversity in STEM and sparking a love for scientific curiosity from an early age.

Prior to joining GSK, Cynthia was a patent attorney with AstraZeneca, MedImmune, and Lilly. Cynthia has a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, an M.S. in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Delaware. In her spare time, she enjoys reading (science fiction/fantasy) and supporting her kids in soccer and gymnastics.
